How to change the difficulty level on your Ark server

The following article will cover the steps needed to change the difficulty of your Ark Server Hosted By 24 Play.

The difficulty value is determined by the formula: DifficultyOffset * (Official Difficulty - 0.5) + 0.5

1. Log into your game panel.
2. Click on the Commandline Manager within your game panel and select a commandline if you have not done so already.
3. In the Commandline Manager for your selected commandline click the Selected icon and locate the Override Official Difficulty line.
Note: If you'd like to change the Difficulty Offset, this can be found in the GameUserSettings.ini Configuration File

Set OverrideOfficialDifficulty with the Formula (Max Level / 30)

The OverrideOfficialDifficulty value can be between 1.0 and 10.0. This value should be set to your maximum desired level, divided by 30. For example, if you want your max level to be 300, then set this value to 10 (300 / 30 = 10). You can find some examples in the table below.

4.
Set the Override Official Difficulty to your liking.
5. Save

Clearing Wild Dinos
Once you have updated the difficulty and have restarted your server, you will most likely want to clear the existing wild dinos. You can do this with the DestroyWildDinos command. The steps for this are:

1. If you have not yet done so, follow this guide to set yourself up as an admin and then press the Tab key in-game.
2. Run the command enablecheats <password> to gain access to admin commands on the server.
3. Run the admincheat DestroyWildDinos command to destroy all wild dinos.

This will remove all wild untamed dinos from the server and begin respawning them at the new difficulty level.
